A veteran's benefits information session will be held on May 17 at 11 a.m. at Harold D. Cooley Library, 114 W. Church St., Nashville.

Harold D. Cooley Library hosts LEGO Club for ages 6 and older the third Tuesday of the month from 4-5 p.m. Test your skills by free building or participating in a challenge build. The library is located at 114 W. Church St., Nashville. For more information call 252-459-2106.

MAY 27
The Joint Veterans Committee of Nash, Edgecombe and surrounding counties will host a Memorial Day ceremony at Jack Laughery Park, 321 N. Church St., in Rocky Mount on Monday, May 27, 2024, to remember our fallen heroes. The opening ceremony will begin promptly at 10 a.m. with the entrance of the Nash Central High School NJROTC. The American Flag will be at the half-staff position honoring our fallen heroes. Col. Laurie M. Buckhout (U.S. Army retired) will be the key-note speaker. Sgt. Major Leo Nieves (USMC Ret.) will then perform a POW/MIA Fallen Comrades Ceremony followed by a Ceremonial rifle salute by the NJROTC and the playing of "Taps". . The American flag will be raised to full staff at 12:00 noon. Everyone is encouraged to bring their lawn chairs.
